What is Hip Osteoarthritis?
Deformative hip osteoarthritis is a condition where the cartilage between the femur and the pelvis wears down, causing bone deformation and inflammation, which leads to pain.
The primary symptom is pain in the groin area when standing up or starting to walk. As the condition progresses, the pain may intensify and, in some cases, lead to persistent pain (constant pain) or nocturnal pain (pain that occurs during the night).
While often a sequel of hip dysplasia, it can also develop due to age-related changes.

Treatment methods
Treatment options include oral medications such as pain relievers and rehabilitation. If these are ineffective, surgery may be considered.
Surgical methods
- Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA)
At our hospital, we perform surgery using an anterior or anterolateral approach to minimize damage to the surrounding muscles. This approach helps reduce blood loss, decrease postoperative pain, and promote faster recovery after surgery.
