Chronic low back pain
What is Chronic Lower Back Pain?
Many people experience acute lower back pain (commonly known as a "slipped disc") at least once, and data shows that around 80% of people across all age groups will experience back pain at some point in their lives. Among cases of chronic lower back pain that persist for more than three months, only about 15% are due to clearly identifiable causes, such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or compression fractures, which are classified as organic abnormalities. The remaining 85% are diagnosed as non-organic back pain with an unknown cause.
Recently, it has been discovered that some of this chronic pain is actually caused by the brain itself.
At our clinic, we earnestly address non-surgical lower back pain as a specialized spine hospital.
We have established a specialized back pain consultation service led by Professor Hiroshi Matsudaira of the Musculoskeletal Management Division at the University of Tokyo's 22nd Century Medical Center, who is well-known as a back pain specialist and has appeared on NHK Special. We provide treatment tailored to each patient's needs, including exercise therapy.
